Research Reveals “Financial Realities” for Americans Today

Following the global financial crisis, Americans have embraced a distinctly more conservative approach to their finances, and widened the timeframes in which they expect to achieve financial goals, according to research by Northwestern Mutual.

Financial Realities Study: Changing Timeframes

Many people look back on their lives with regret; not for the things they have done, but for the things they have left undone. They find they are more successful than they thought they would be and saved less than they intended. They find themselves in situations that are more complex and less predictable than they anticipated.

That is where I come in. I take the time to get to know you and your preferences. I can help you anticipate and prepare for the best—and worst scenarios. The relationship I establish with you enables me to focus on your needs—what you want for your family and what you are currently doing.

My Mission

My mission as a Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Representative is to help you identify and/or clarify your financial intentions, helping you align your actions to your intentions and do so within your own values. I feel strongly that it doesn't make any sense to accumulate money without first understanding when you might want to spend it. You can't take it with you when you die, so it is important to understand the liquidity concerns and design one's net worth based on this principle. I feel that any offensive strategy should be balanced with a defensive one and this is why risk management is important. We can work real hard to accumulate wealth, and if not protected, watch it erode very quickly and lose what we worked so hard to achieve.

I also feel my responsibility as part of my mission is to develop relationships based on respect and communication. In doing so, not only should you expect communication from my staff and I, but we should expect open communication from you. I have never seen a marriage work that only has one spouse communicating and it would be hard to expect us to successfully help you align your action to your intentions without communication and feedback from you.
